Epic Universe Wait Times in Review: May 2026

A data-centric breakdown of when wait times peak, which days of the week have the lowest waits, and which rides will devour your day, all from 53,841 wait-time readings. Spoiler Alert: Mine-Cart Madness and Ministry of Magic will devour your day.

Epic Universe Wait Times in Review: May 2026

Lines peak at 11 AM, then fall all day

The median standby wait climbs from about 15 minutes in the early hours to a 45-minute peak at 11 AM, holds through midday, then eases back to about 15 by close. From 11 AM to 3 PM the median runs 40 minutes, roughly double the 20-minute median after 7 PM. (Averages sit higher, peaking near 52 minutes, because a few long-wait headliners drag the mean up.)

The first hour and the last two hours generally have lower wait times (with a few exceptions).

Wait times barely vary by day of the week

Sundays have the lowest wait times and Thursdays the longest, but day to day they barely move: the spread between the best and worst day is about 9 minutes by average and 10 by median.

Attraction uptime was pretty good, with one outlier

Epic Universe attraction uptime in May 2026, ranked most to least reliable, with weather and non-weather downtime
Epic Universe attraction closures in May 2026, ranked by total closures, with days affected and average closure duration

Uptime is the share of time a ride was operating during park hours, with downtime split between weather and everything else. Rides that skip Early Park Admission aren’t counted as down during that hour. As one would expect, the indoor rides, like Monsters Unchained, Battle at the Ministry, and Mario Kart, didn’t log a single weather delay.

Mine-Cart Madness had issues in May. It ran only 83% of its operating hours, the lowest uptime of any ride in the park, and most of that downtime was mechanical, not weather. The ride is both popular and, sadly, relatively unavailable about 1/6 of the time. Even with weather delays removed from the equation just for Mine-Cart, it still had the least uptime of any attraction at Epic.

Two attractions were a risky bet to invest EPA time

Epic Universe rides ranked by the odds of running into a delay during Early Park Admission in May 2026, safest first

Both Mine-Cart Madness, and Battle at the Ministry had about a 1 in 4 chance of experiencing a delay during EPA.

Final notes for May 2026

  • Any day is good to go to Epic Universe, with Sunday having slightly lower wait times.
  • Mine-Cart Madness is extremely popular, and it’s an amazing ride, so everyone wants on it…you just gotta wait. It averaged a 102-minute standby, peaking about two hours after open, and it’s hard to get on quickly at any time of day. If you have Early Park Admission and the ride is running, this is a great one to hit first. But it’s a gamble: Mine-Cart has been plagued by delays, and on 26% of EPA mornings it went down, so you could burn your head start waiting for it to come back. Brutal!
  • Battle at the Ministry is the park’s other headliner, with the lines to match: an 84-minute average standby that peaks near 105 minutes around 2 PM. It’s steadier than Mine-Cart, running 94% of its hours, but it carries the same EPA gamble, with about a 1 in 4 chance of a delay during early access.
  • In May, 3–7 PM was the window for afternoon storms. Consider hitting up rides that are not affected by rain, such as Mario Kart or Monsters Unchained.
  • Arguably the best coaster in the park (and perhaps even all of Orlando), Stardust Racers, averaged barely 20 minutes. That’s amazing!
  • Celestial Park is relatively more busy at the end of the day, which contrasts with nearly all of the other attractions.
