Epic Universe Wait Times in Review: August 2026

The shortest lines of the summer

The park median dropped to 30 minutes, down from 35 in both June and July. The median standby wait climbs from about 15 minutes in the first hour to a 40-minute peak around 11 AM–1 PM, then eases to about 20 after 7 PM. Midday runs roughly 2x the evening, so the late-day discount is bigger than it was in July.

The Early Park Admission schedule bounced around all month. August 1 kept July’s 8 AM EPA, August 2–8 went back to 9 AM, August 9–29 returned to 8 AM, and the final two days moved to 9 AM again. The cover chart shows the two long stretches; the last two days are in the numbers but too short to chart on their own.

The first hour and the last two hours still have the lowest wait times.

Sunday was the busy day, midweek was the bargain

July’s quiet weekends did not carry over. Sunday ran a 35-minute median, the highest of the week, while Wednesday and Thursday ran 25. Every other day sat at 30. The busiest day of the month was Sunday, August 2 (median 45) and the calmest was Wednesday, August 19 (median 20).

Attraction uptime

Epic Universe attraction uptime in August 2026, ranked most to least reliable, with weather and non-weather downtime
Epic Universe attraction closures in August 2026, ranked by total closures, with days affected and average closure duration

Uptime is the share of time a ride was operating during park hours, with downtime split between weather and everything else. Hiccup’s Wing Gliders and Fyre Drill tied as the least reliable rides (74%, down from 82% and 86% in July), with Mine-Cart Madness (75%) right behind. Weather was the story: delays hit on 25 of 31 days, up from 17 in July, and seven rides each lost roughly a tenth of their operating time to it. Hiccup’s Wing Gliders, Stardust Racers, and Mine-Cart Madness each logged more than 100 closures in the month.

The EPA gamble, ranked

Epic Universe rides ranked by the odds of running into a delay during Early Park Admission in August 2026, safest first

Stardust Racers became the riskiest EPA bet at 39% of mornings (12 of 31), double its July odds, though its delays were short (13-minute median). Hiccup’s Wing Gliders was next at 32%, and when it went down it could stay down: a 15-minute median delay but a 75-minute average, dragged up by a few long mornings. Battle at the Ministry improved to 26% from 32% in July. Dragon Racer’s Rally was the safe pick with zero EPA delays all month. Curse of the Werewolf and Fyre Drill did not open for EPA, so they aren’t ranked.

Notes for August 2026

  • The park median fell to 30 minutes from 35, and the three headliners all dropped: Mine-Cart Madness to 85 (from 110), Battle at the Ministry to 70 (from 90), and Mario Kart to 50 (from 75).
  • Mine-Cart Madness still peaks around 120 at noon; the 8 PM hour was the cheapest at 60. Battle at the Ministry peaks later, 90 from 2–4 PM, and drops to 35 by 8 PM.
  • Mario Kart logged the single worst wait we tracked: 205 minutes on August 6.
  • Stardust Racers averaged 23 minutes and was the only headliner whose line grew after dark, peaking at 30 in the 8 PM hour.
  • Monsters Unchained had a bad final week: it never opened on August 23 or 25, and on four of the last five days it didn’t open until after noon, as late as 7:50 PM on August 27. That dragged its uptime to 84% from 95% in July, and its average closure ran almost three hours, by far the longest in the park.
  • Skip Sunday if you can. Wednesday and Thursday ran 10 minutes shorter than Sunday across the park.
